Instructions:

1. There are 3 parts: Pressure Bag, Pump, Pressure Gauge
2. Insert IV bag between Mesh and Pressure bag
   • Insert your arm through the top of the pressure bag
   • Loop finger in IV fluid bag hole at top that normally hangs on IV pole
   • Ensure the wording on the fluid bag shows on the Mesh Side
   • Pull Pressure bag down over the IV fluid bag and pull pressure bag hanging string through hole in top of IV fluid bag
3. Hang on pole
4. IV fluid bag can be spiked prior to placing in pressure bag or after it is hanging on poll
5. Inflate the bag
   • Close Valve on inflation bulb
   • Line up the off switch with the air release
   • Pump up bag
   • Do not stop pumping until the gauge is in the green
6. Monitor Gauge
   • Guage should always be in the green
   • Every few minutes the bag will need to be pumped up to keep gauge in the green
   • Usually managed by the medication nurse

Indications/Uses: hypotension fluid boluses, IO use, critical care areas during codes/emergencies, a-line/cvp setups, fluid resusitation

Important Points:

• Safety checks: pressure should always be in the green zone
• Monitor the site carefully for infiltration
• Prime out any air in the tubing
• This setup allows for rapid infusion of fluids, and it is easy to give more than ordered. </aside>
